Ultimate Custom Night (UCN) is a survival horror game developed and published by Scott Cawthon, released on June 27, 2018. It is the eighth installment in the renowned Five Nights at Freddy’s (FNaF) series and serves as a standalone game, diverging from the main storyline to offer a unique and customizable gameplay experience.

 

In UCN, players assume the role of a security guard trapped in an office, tasked with surviving the night while being hunted by various animatronic characters. The game features over 50 animatronics from previous FNaF titles, each with distinct behaviors and mechanics. This vast roller allows players to customize their experience by selecting which animatronics to face and adjusting their difficulty levels from 0 to 20, creating a highly personalized challenge.

 

The game’s primary objective is to survive the night by managing various resources and defense mechanisms. Players must monitor security cameras, control doors and vents, and utilize tools like the heater, A/C, and power generator to fend off the relentless animatronics. The game also includes a 50/20 mode, a near-impossible challenge where all animatronics are set to their maximum difficulty, providing a true test of skill and endurance for even the most seasoned players.

Upon starting the game, players are presented with a customization screen where they can select which animatronics to include in their night and set their difficulty levels. This screen allows for endless combinations, ensuring that no two nights are the same.Moreover, players’ office is equipped with several tools to monitor and defend against the animatronics. These include security cameras, doors, vents, and air hoses. Players must manage these tools effectively to prevent animatronics from entering the office.Additional tools such as the heater, A/C, global music box, and power generator are crucial for managing the environment and animatronic behaviors. For instance, the heater can deter certain animatronics, while the A/C can lower the office temperature, affecting others.Beyond that, power is also a critical resource in UCN. Actions like closing doors and using the heater consume power, and players must balance their usage to avoid running out. If the power depletes, the player becomes vulnerable to attacks. Temperature and noise levels also play significant roles. High temperatures can accelerate animatronic movements, while excessive noise can attract certain characters. Players must monitor and control these factors to survive.By the way, UCN features a challenge menu with 16 themed challenges, each offering unique combinations of animatronics and difficulty settings. Completing these challenges unlocks new office skins and cutscenes, providing additional incentives for players.
